USAE provides full-service munitions response solutions, leveraging advanced geophysical classification (AGC) technologies and proven methodologies to support safe and effective environmental remediation.
For more than 12 years, USAE has performed MEC surface and subsurface investigations at multiple sites within or near the former Camp Sibert, AL. Sites contained a mix of Chemical Warfare Materiel (CWM)/MEC and Munitions Constituents (MC)/ Hazardous, and Toxic and Radioactive Waste (HTRW) contaminants. Our work at Camp Sibert aligns with our core capabilities in munitions response and environmental remediation. This project highlights USAE's expertise in conducting geophysical surveys, analyzing subsurface anomalies, and delivering actionable results to facilitate safe land use and development.
For this project, USAE conducted an AGC survey and mapping effort for a private customer to support the construction of a proposed gas station facility on a 6.35-acre site. After the development and approval of an AGC Quality Assurance Project Plan (QAPP) and an Accident Prevention Plan/Health and Safety Plan, USAE performed site vegetation removal within the property boundaries to facilitate survey operations. USAE then mobilized a UXO qualified team to conduct an AGC survey using White River Technologies' (WRT) APEX One-Pass AGC sensor. The survey detected 1,860 unique anomalies, which were analyzed and classified to refine the data and reduce the anomaly list by over 87% to 227 Targets of Interest (TOIs). Subsequent intrusive investigations of 21 high-confidence TOIs confirmed the absence of MEC or munitions debris, substantiating previous findings of no DoD Action Indicated. The project concluded with the preparation and submission of a comprehensive AGC survey report in compliance with DAGCAP requirements.
USAE's performance met all quality objectives, including location of all quality control (QC) seeds. Our commitment to safety and compliance resulted in an overall "Excellent" rating. The successful completion of this project underscores USAE's dedication to safety, quality, customer satisfaction, and the delivery of reliable environmental solutions.
